Professor Shirley Ho’s group at McWilliams Center for Cosmology at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking several interns to participate in a variety of research in astrophysics. In particular, the group seeks individuals who are interested in working in the following : cosmology, large scale structure, Baryon Acoustic Oscillations, Redshift Space distortions, cosmic microwave background, extra-solar planets. See the group’s webpage for more information : http://terapix.phys.cmu.edu/Home.html

Carnegie Mellon has become an institutional member of SDSS-III, BigBOSS, and LSST. Center faculty are also involved in the ACT, HSC, and Planck experiments, and engaged in the nascent field of using new types of radio telescopes to explore the universe using the 21 cm radiation of neutral Hydrogen. Faculty members in the Center have taken leadership roles in the newly formed LSST Dark Energy Science Collaboration. Computing facilities have been established both within the Center and a 1000+ core cluster in collaboration with Computer Science which is undergoing a major upgrade. Please visit the Center’s website at www.cmu.edu/cosmology for more details.
Other faculty members of McWilliams Center for Cosmology are also interested in searching for interns who are interested in a wide variety of subjects :
a) Weak Lensing, b) 21 cm cosmology, c) computational cosmology, d) study of Early Universe, etc.
The intern will also be compensated according to the university rates.

Please contact Professor Shirley Ho if you are interested : shirleyh@andrew.cmu.edu.
