Chaires de recherche junior- L’appel à candidatures 2014 est ouvert

The Department of Physics, Ecole normale superieure, Paris (France), invites applications for three Junior Research Chairs (at the postdoctoral level). Appointments will be for two years with a possible extension for a third year. The Departments aims at outstanding candidates with some experience at the international level.
Research activities can be experimental and/or theoretical. It should correspond to one of the following themes :
- Quantum physics : from atoms to condensed matter
- Biophysics : from the cell to the organism
- Non-linear physics : from the laboratory to the cosmos
- Statistical and Theoretical physics

Some participation in teaching in the international master program (http://www.phys.ens.fr/spip.php?rubrique284) at ENS will be part of the JRCs’ duties.

In addition to an internationally competitive salary, travel allowance and research funds (100,000 euros for experimental JRCs) will be provided. The successful candidates will be fully integrated in the Department of Physics at ENS and its constituent research laboratories. For more detailed information on the research undertaken at the Department of Physics, please consult our website http://www.phys.ens.fr/?lang=en

The department actively encourages applications of experimentalists.

The positions will be funded by the recent 10-year grant (Labex ENS-ICFP - International Centre for Fundamental Physics and its interfaces), which the Department of Physics has recently obtained through the French National Excellence initiative.

Applications must be submitted through AcademicJobsOnline at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/4229 and should consist of :
- A cover letter
- A complete CV including a list of publications

Candidates are encouraged to make early contact with faculty to discuss their proposal and should include details of these discussions in their 4-page research statement. If help is required to identify appropriate research groups/faculty, candidates should contact the Manager, Stephanie Troufflard at stephanie.troufflard@phys.ens.fr

Short-listed candidates will be invited for interview (videoconferences) in early December 2014.

Applications received by October 24, 2014 will receive full consideration. The hiring committee will make offers late in 2014. Positions will normally start in September 2015, but this is negotiable.

For information, two additional positions in theoretical physics will be made available by the Philippe Meyer Institute.
