The neural code of the retina
Markus Meister (Harvard University, Cambridge, USA)

Jeudi 7 avril 2005

The retina is a powerful neural circuit at the back of the eye, whose task is to process the visual scene before transmission to the brain. I will present an overview of what we understand about this circuit, guided by the following questions :

- What computations does the retina perform ?

- How are these implemented by the hardware of neurons and their connections ?

- And how do these computations serve the biological needs of the animal ?
