Coherence and Phase Measurements in Quantum Dots

The Characteristics of electronic systems are usually studied via performing conductance measurements. Since the conductance of a system is proportional to the absolute value of the transmission coefficient of electrons through the system, coherence and phase information is being generally lost.

I will report on measurements of coherence and phase of systems serving as ’artificial atoms’, namely, zero dimensional like electron puddles, called quantum dots as the number of electrons increases.

I will show results that verify that the transmission phase is a highly sensitive parameter to physics taking place in the quantum dots, revealing properties that are not observed via conductance measurements.
