La Physique des verres
Giorgo Parisi (Université La Sapienza, Rome)

Jeudi 1er février 2001

In this talk, after a short phenomenological introduction on glasses, I will describe some recent progresses that have been done in glasses using the replica method in the definition and in the evaluation of the configurational entropy (or complexity) which is one of the key concept. This theoretical formulation is at the basis of some analytic computations of the thermodynamic glass transition and of the properties below the phase transition point.

On more general grounds these results are connected to a more general problem, i.e. the definition of the temperature in an off-equilibrium system, a problem that has been widely studied in recent years.
